Sofidest en quête d’investisseurs
Remettre Sofidest sur les rails : c’est le souhait de Jean-François et Olivier Desmet. Depuis le début de l'année, les deux dirigeants œuvrent au sauvetage du groupe nordiste, qui a été placé en redressement judiciaire en mars dernier en raison de ses difficultés financières.
La procédure devrait d’ailleurs se poursuivre avec le lancement, par l’administrateur judiciaire, d’un appel d'offres de recherche d'investisseurs/repreneurs pour les sociétés du groupe. Rappelons que Sofidest fédère les activités de Nippon Pièces Services (spécialiste de la pièce de rechange pour véhicules asiatiques), de la plateforme Nord Distribution, et des sites e-commerce Piecesauto.com ainsi que Webdealauto.com.
Pour Jean-François Desmet, cette nouvelle étape est donc décisive pour l’avenir du groupe. "Nous cherchons un ou des partenaires qui pourraient nous suivre ou nous soutenir pour nous aider à nous développer. Nous avons encore beaucoup de choses à faire".
Sofidest mis à mal par la pandémie et ses répercussions
Interrogé sur les raisons de la mauvaise passe traversée par Sofidest, le dirigeant pointe du doigt la crise de la Covid-19 et, surtout, ses nombreuses conséquences.
"Ça paraît loin aujourd’hui mais cette crise a eu de lourdes conséquences pour notre activité. Les usines sont restées fermées pendant très longtemps en Asie et nos commandes sont restées bloquées pendant de longs mois. Lorsqu’elles ont finalement été débloquées, nous avons reçu l’ensemble de nos marchandises d’un seul coup ! Ce qui a représenté un paiement très important… À cette situation s’est greffée l’inflation des containers dont les prix ont atteint des sommets à cette période", rappelle Jean-François Desmet.
Dans le rouge, le groupe a, en outre, dû faire face à la défection d’une trentaine de fournisseurs depuis son placement en redressement judiciaire. Ce qui a évidemment perturbé le maintien de ses activités.
En dépit de cette situation, les dirigeants de Sofidest ont mis en place de nombreuses actions ces derniers mois pour réduire la voilure et renflouer les caisses. "Nous sommes avec nos équipes sur le terrain, et nous nous démenons pour développer nos ventes et récupérer de la trésorerie", assure Jean-François Desmet.
Un savoir-faire à valoriser
Optimistes, les dirigeants espèrent aujourd’hui que l’arrivée de nouveaux investisseurs permettra de sauver leurs différentes sociétés, en particulier NPS qu’ils "ont créée de toutes pièces" en 1993. Au cours de ces 30 dernières années, le distributeur de pièces pour marques asiatiques s’est affirmé en France et dans plusieurs pays – notamment à travers une franchise – comme un acteur référent sur ce segment de marché.

"Nous avons un construit un réseau de partenaires qui nous permet de nous approvisionner directement en Asie. C’est une expertise que nous pourrions mettre à profit pour créer des MDD ou des marques privées", confie Jean-François Desmet.
Reste désormais à connaître l’issue de l’appel d’offres qui devrait être publié fin novembre et courir jusqu’à fin décembre. Les éventuels candidats à la reprise ou investisseurs pourraient être dévoilés début 2024.
